Are there any JW songs that you HATE?

you're probably thinking 'all of them', and it's true that the songbook is riddled with wrong stuff .

but are there any songs in particular that irk your moral sensibilities?.

for me it would be song #26, "you did it for me".

There's that abomination (Song 18) " A Special Possession;" it was the opening song at this year's Memorial... transfers devotion from Jesus to the anointed and especially the GB.

There there's an old favorite of mine, "Jehovah God is My Shepherd" of which they brutalized the lyrics, changing them from an approximation ot the 23rd Psalm to ....whatever.. I guess they feel empowered to improve upon the sacred text. One example of pointlessly changing the "oldies" to create the impression in a feeble bid to appear forward-looking and progressive.

The newer songs they've added are mostly blatant, cultish propaganda .

How The WT's 144,000 Theology Hijacks Their Annual Memorial Meeting

at last year's local memorial service, purported to honor jesus' sacrificial death and its signficance to the eternal prospects of humanity, the visiting speaker from bethel quite remarkably managed to talk for almost an hour without one recourse to the word "resurrection".. a remarkable achievement, given its centrality in the belief system of nominal christianity.

nor were the stirring moments of high drama in the bible's depicting of jesus last hours on earth-- his last supper and his prayer for the well-being of his disciples, the betrayal of judas, the agony of the garden; his disciples' succumbing to sleep; his betrayal and arrest in the garden of gethesemane; the scattering of his fear-gripped disciples; peter's denial, and the climactic soul-stirring awareness of the signficance of the empty tomb and its guardian's chilling pronouncement to mary magdalene and the women "why are you searching for the living among the dead?"...

and so on, to his post-resurrection appearance at emmaus, etc.. all of this was swept aside in favor of convincing those in attendance that they had no business in partaking of the emblematic bread and wine.

... Not too mention the abominable opening song, "A Special Possession," praising.. who else: Jesus? , Jehovah? -- Oh no, the so-called "anointed"

Whatever happened to the song that began:" Jehovah or Father in Heaven, O this is a most holy night.. 'Twas Nisan 14 when your glory was seen... etc. etc."

here's the cruel, uncomfortable and dehumanizing description of transport for disfellowshipped ones:.

in cases of real need, the elders can determine wheth-er some assistance may be provided.

such assistance would be viewed as similar to public transportation in that there should be no conversing with the disfellowshipped or disassociated person.

Do old time present day active JW`s genuinely believe in overlapping generations ?

for the life of me i can not come to terms with old timers in the "truth" who could swallow this interpretation of scripture about an overlapping generation .. when jesus spoke about "this generation" .

are their any real bible students among younger ones any more ?.

here are 3 bible scriptures that confirm a generation is approximately 40- 50 years long give or take a few years .. 1. matt:1 :17 abraham born 2016-18 bc jesus born 2 bc approx.

i think i’m going insane.... i’m 17 years old and being raised in a jw household.

i really want friends and a boyfriend but i can’t have that because my parents are jw and i’m also homeschooled.

they are those jw parents that refuse to let me go to public school because of bad influences.

Welcone to the forum. I'm deeply sympathetic to your plight. Unfortunately your home schooling has impeded you from developing friendships outside the constricted realm of the JWs. You need to bide your time until you are legally independent of your parents and use the intervening time to explore the options available to you. Don't despair, there are many here who are willing to help.

I reworked my Study on "The Temptations of Jesus"
